My 18 month old does not respond to loud clapping behind him or his name being called at times. However, he will hear the keys jingle from rooms away, the door open when he is sleeping and 2 metal spoons quietly tapping behind him. His babysitter thinks he has hearing loss because he does not respond to the clapping behind him but I think he is just being stubborn and ignoring her. She says kids at that age don’t ignore. What do you think? We will get a hearing test regardless; but do kids at this age “selectively” hear things they want?
