Can hearing loss be caused by trauma?
Steve S asked:
I was rear ended in a car wreck and since then I have had pressure, ringing, and hearing loss in my left ear. Could this have been caused by the hard hit of the car wreck?

yes.
when I was ten years old I reptured my ear drums in a bike accident. It was the intense air pression and hit to the ground from what the doctor said that cause it to happen in a this weird situation. I could have loss some hearing if I didnt get it treated
oh, and if you got treated in an Er, they will not check your ears if its not evident. I had blood coming from almost everywhere and I didn’t notice the damage till there was blood on my pillow the next morning. I had to go to a specialist to get treated. Even a slap to the ears can cause the same damage

It could have been caused by the trauma. Hearing loss is also a side effect of some medications. Only your physician will be able to direct you further.
